Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Assistant to join our team at Saint Xavier University. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform custodial tasks and maintenance of areas such as dormitories, classrooms, offices, auditoriums, kitchens, dining rooms, and lavatories.
  • Dust, mop, sweep, scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors using appropriate equipment.
  • Operate polishers and buffers.
  • Wash, dust, and polish glass, including windows, woodwork, walls, furniture, and metal equipment.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs.
  • Inspect buildings for damage and report conditions to supervisor.
  • Replenish disposable products such as soap and paper towels.
  • Clean chalkboards/whiteboards and other classroom surfaces.
  • Vacuum and spot clean carpeted areas and other fabric surfaces.
  • Deep clean carpets and fabric surfaces.
  • Clean and sanitize sinks, water fountains, and/or fixtures in restrooms and similar environments.
  • Clean and refinish hard surface flooring.
  • Remove graffiti.
  • Move furniture and other items by hand or using appropriate moving devices.
  • Perform set-up for athletic and/or other university functions.
  • Maintain assigned closets and equipment in a neat, clean, and safe working condition.
  • Perform limited or minor repairs to equipment assigned.
  • Sweep walks, collect, and dispose of trash.
  • Remove snow and ice from stairways and walkways around buildings.
  • Salt stairways and walkways.
  • Immediately report any and all unsafe conditions and submit work order.
  • Report need for repairs.

Requirements

One (1) year of experience in work that could reasonably be expected to provide the experience and training and knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.
