Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Veterinary Nurse/Technician to join our team at Ada Veterinary Services, PLLC. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians in delivering top-notch medical services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians with routine patient visits, surgical procedures, and the care of hospitalized patients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding the medical status of their pets.
  • Perform routine in-house laboratory procedures and radiographs.
  • Operate and maintain hospital equipment, including EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, anesthetic monitors, and machines.
  • Properly dispense prescription medications for patients.
  • Restrain small animals during medical examinations using proper low-stress handling techniques.
  • Organize examination rooms to ensure equipment and supplies are properly stocked.
  • Educate clients on preventative medical care for their pets and other educational topics based on hospital recommendations.
  • Maintain a clean and disinfected work area.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines regarding safety and handling of hazardous materials.

Requirements:

  • Prior work experience in a veterinary environment.
  • Experience with technical skills acquired through on-the-job and in-school classroom/lab settings.
  • Experience entering data into computer systems and performing basic clerical functions.

Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high desire for quality work.

Physical Demands:

This job requires standing, walking, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, bending at the knees (stooping), reaching, pulling, and lifting at least 40 pounds.

We have a low-stress handling approach to our patients, which may include pre-medications prior to appointments and sedation for stressful procedures such as nail trims and radiographs.

Associate's degree required.

Experience:

Veterinary experience preferred, but not required.

License/Certification:
