Job Title: Blood Bank Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Blood Bank Technologist to join our team at Actalent. As a Blood Bank Technologist, you will be responsible for the procurement, testing, and processing of blood components, as well as providing exceptional patient care and customer service to our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform various tasks related to the procurement, testing, and processing of blood components, including blood typing, cross-matching, and testing for infectious diseases.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with laboratory team members to ensure timely and efficient processing of blood products.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with hospital staff and clients to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Participate in quality control activities, including proficiency testing and quality assessment.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of all testing and processing activities.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements and safety protocols.
  • Participate in continuing education and training programs to stay current with industry developments and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Medical Technology or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or eligible to sit for exam (NICE TO HAVE).
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in a blood bank or medical laboratory setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of blood banking principles, procedures, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with computerized laboratory information systems (LIS) a plus.
Work Environment:
  • The Blood Bank Technologist will work in a dynamic laboratory setting with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, gowns, and masks.
