Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist I to join our team at Kaiser Permanente in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role involves providing general radiology and fluoroscopic imaging services in various areas, including radiology, emergency department, surgery, and portable bedside service areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs radiologic examinations according to departmental protocols, positioning patients, providing immobilization devices as required, and selecting technical factors for optimum imaging.
  • Reviews orders, correlates patients' clinical history with the exam being performed, and reviews previous studies when follow-up and progressive studies are requested.
  • Consults with attending Radiologists and Registered Nurses as needed, following all National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Ensures accuracy of information and data entry, maintains patient privacy and confidentiality, and captures required documentation in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Assists with screening patients for contraindications, prepares sterile fields and contrast agents, and maintains appropriate and adequate supplies during procedures.
  • Assists radiologists during fluoroscopic procedures, operates and understands all features and performance capabilities of general radiology, fluoroscopy, and portable imaging systems.
  • Post-processes and reviews images as required, prepares images for Radiologist interpretation, and transmits images to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
  • Maintains working knowledge of all department equipment and devices, reports equipment malfunctions, and reports accidents and/or unusual incidents as well as unsafe conditions to appropriate administrative personnel.
  • Provides service-oriented communication with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and emphasizing a personalized, individualized, compassionate patient care atmosphere at all times.
  • Applies appropriate measures for minimizing radiation exposure to patients and self, records fluoroscopy time used during procedures, and functions as part of the resuscitation team during Code Blue and/or Rapid Response Team situations.
  • Maintains all materials needed and linen supply on a daily basis, maintains general order and cleanliness of the room assigned, and rotates and shares on-call responsibilities for General Radiology service areas.
  • Pursues ongoing continuing education and attends departmental meetings and/or in-service presentations as needed or required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in radiologic technology from an accredited school or two (2) years of directly related experience.
  • Radiographer License (Hawaii) required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification required at hire from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Additional Requirements:

  • Trauma, fluoroscopy, and surgery experience.
