About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer, SR to join our team at Lockheed Martin. As a key member of our Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System program, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting software solutions that play a critical role in our nation's defense against ballistic missile threats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop software applications and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, and development of product software.
  • Ensure software standards are met and support advanced portions of the software development lifecycle, including requirements definition, integration, and deployment.
  • Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with minimal oversight and direction.
  • Maintain an Interim or Active Secret Clearance.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of related experience, or a PhD with 0 years of experience.
  • Must already have an Interim or Active Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with solving highly mathematical and physics-based complex problems.
  • Experience analyzing and implementing optimization algorithms.
  • Recent demonstration of Ada or C++ software development experience.
  • Recent MATLAB and Python experience.
  • Unix/Linux operating system experience.
  • Able to read and interpret modeling and simulation.
  • Must be able to support an in-person/closed-area work environment.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with solving highly mathematical and physics-based complex problems involving developing fire control solutions.
  • Highly experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations.
  • Prior experience with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs and/or systems.
  • Experience with automated software requirements testing and analysis.
  • Experience with software containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm Charts, Docker).
  • Experience using Agile project management tools (Jira/Confluence).
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools and methods (Jenkins, Ansible, Git/Gitlab) and continuous integration/continuous delivery and deployment (CI/CD) automation.
