Job Summary:
The City of Chicago is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer V to join our team. As a key member of our Design/Construction/Development Division, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, installation, maintenance, and inspection of mechanical equipment and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project deliverables, including drawings, reports, calculations, and specifications, to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Provide analysis, recommendations, and comments to stakeholders, using technical knowledge and external research.
- Represent the City of Chicago as owner/client-side project manager, administering and overseeing project activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate and communicate with all project stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
- Manage entities contracted to the city in architecture, engineering, and construction, selecting consultants, designers, and professional services.
- Monitor contracted activities, deliverables, adherence, and performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration or in a field of study directly related to the responsibilities of the position.
- At least five years of project manager work experience in mechanical engineering, in the design and construction of building mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) and/or adjacent subject matters (controls, BAS, conveyance), with one year in a supervisory role.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Illinois.
Working Conditions:
This position requires a valid driver's license at the time of hire and flexibility to early and/or late meetings and occasional weekends.
