Role Summary and RequirementsThe Nurse Extern PRN will operate under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) and support the nursing team in delivering patient care. Your responsibilities will include providing high-quality, patient-focused care services related to standard nursing functions and daily living activities.
· Collaborate closely with the clinical team to develop and execute care plans by performing both direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
· Gather and document initial and ongoing patient information throughout their care journey.
· Assist with patient mobility by regularly repositioning, moving, and transferring patients as needed.
· Simplify complex medical terminology to ensure patients and their families understand their medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and potential side effects.
· Educate patients and their families on healthy lifestyle choices, disease prevention, and necessary changes for self-management post-discharge.
Required Qualifications· Enrollment in an accredited nursing program with good standing is required, with the ability to perform advanced procedures once competency is achieved.
· Ability to develop and implement a personal career development plan, reviewed regularly with a supervisor or preceptor.
· Completion of at least one year of nursing school is preferred.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
