We are seeking a highly skilled GIS/CAD Technician to join our team at Midland Independent School District. As a GIS/CAD Technician, you will be responsible for providing daily production of architectural CAD and GIS services for the District Architects Office and School Plant Services.
Key Responsibilities- Production of day-to-day assignments for the district drafting, CAD, and GIS department
- Work directly with the Supervisor of CAD & GIS Services in scheduling the drafting, CAD, and GIS production for all in-house architectural and planning projects
- Drafting room/plan room organization, filing, and blue line printing. Maintain drafting room/plan room equipment and supplies
- Organize and produce architectural plans and specifications for all assigned district projects with the direct or indirect supervision of the Director of Facility Design
- Provide graphic, drafting, CAD, or GIS services for the office of School Plant Services (SPS) or MISD as directed
- Coordinate word processing required for architectural, CAD, or GIS document production with the SPS data entry staff
- Provide field-related services such as site surveys, GIS surveying, building surveys, site measurements, project deliveries, etc. as assigned. These duties may be performed without direct site assistance or supervision
- Perform deliveries as necessary as assigned. All deliveries or site assistance will be performed with the use of an MISD-assigned vehicle (temporary assigned use)
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Facility Design or Chief of Facilities and Operations or Construction Services
- As assigned, shall serve on the rotating 24-hour emergency on-call service for School Plant Services
- Computer literate in the use of a computer system with AutoCAD software or GIS software
- Computer literate in the use of Microsoft Office software package (Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher)
- Must have proficient grammatical skills (oral and written)
- Must be self-motivated and diligent to finish an assigned or designated task or project with minimal assistance
- Must have proficient architectural and GIS project production and organizational methodology skills
- Congenial personality, with emphasis on an ability to work with others
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Driver License and acceptable driving record; must adhere to Midland ISD's vehicle safety & use program
Standard office environment. General construction or maintenance environments including building construction sites, roofs, mechanical rooms, attics/crawl spaces, and other room or space in district facilities. Must be willing to help support and supervise all work in any type of school-related work environment.
