Job Title: Part-Time Lecturer in Chinese Studies
Job Summary:
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at The California State University invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer pool in Chinese Studies to teach undergraduate courses in Chinese language, culture, business, art, literature, linguistics, and/or film.
Areas of Specialization:
- Chinese Language, Introductory to Advanced
- Chinese Culture, Chinese Civilization, and Contemporary China
- Chinese for Business
- Chinese Literature, Intermediate to Advanced
- Chinese Film
Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate courses in Chinese language, culture, business, art, literature, linguistics, and/or film
- Develop and implement course syllabi and lesson plans
- Assess student learning and provide feedback
- Participate in departmental and university service
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Chinese, Chinese Studies, or a related field and native-like fluency in Chinese to teach lower-division (100- and 200-level) courses
- Ph.D. (or be a Ph.D. candidate) in Chinese Studies or a related field and native-like fluency in Chinese to teach upper-division (300-level) courses
- Demonstrate ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level
- Strong teaching skills and evidence of teaching effectiveness
- Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment
