Job Title: Part-Time Lecturer in Chinese Studies

Job Summary:

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at The California State University invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer pool in Chinese Studies to teach undergraduate courses in Chinese language, culture, business, art, literature, linguistics, and/or film.

Areas of Specialization:

  • Chinese Language, Introductory to Advanced
  • Chinese Culture, Chinese Civilization, and Contemporary China
  • Chinese for Business
  • Chinese Literature, Intermediate to Advanced
  • Chinese Film

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Chinese language, culture, business, art, literature, linguistics, and/or film
  • Develop and implement course syllabi and lesson plans
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Participate in departmental and university service

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Chinese, Chinese Studies, or a related field and native-like fluency in Chinese to teach lower-division (100- and 200-level) courses
  • Ph.D. (or be a Ph.D. candidate) in Chinese Studies or a related field and native-like fluency in Chinese to teach upper-division (300-level) courses
  • Demonstrate ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level
  • Strong teaching skills and evidence of teaching effectiveness
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment
