Woodcraft Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Woodcraft Specialist to join our team at Anning-Johnson Company in Portland.

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $90,000 per year

The ideal candidate will be responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, metal, wallboard, etc., using carpenter's hand tools and power tools.

Responsibilities include:

• Studying blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required;
• Selecting specified type of materials;
• Preparing layout, using tape, framing square, etc.
• Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, and marking gage;
• Shaping materials to prescribed measurements, using power and hand tools;
• Assembling, cuts and shapes materials and fastens them together with applicable fasteners;
• Verifying trueness of structures constructed prior to completion;
• Applying shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls;
• Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware;

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Typically reports to a foreman or lead man;
• Ability to work within precise limits and standards of accuracy;
• Apply shop mathematics to solve problems;
• Plan work and select proper tools;
• Compare and see differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects;
• Picture solid objects from drawings or diagrams;
• Perform a variety of duties which may change often;
• Rates information using standards that can be measured or checked;
• Physically able to climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders;
• Reach for, handle, and manipulate objects and materials;
• Lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds;
• Schools or universities shall ensure an applicant has received adequate preparation before referring him/her to these occupations;
• An applicant who does not meet the qualification requirements shall not be referred by schools/universities for such employment opportunities.
