Role Overview
The Clinical Laboratory Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing laboratory personnel and managing the daily functions of our analytical laboratory. This position involves:
- Conducting high-complexity laboratory tests on patient samples, interpreting results, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory standards.
- Serving as the primary contact for Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLSs) and Laboratory Technicians, providing essential guidance and troubleshooting support.
- Acting as a liaison between laboratory staff and management, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Laboratory Operations Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing daily laboratory operations, including scheduling, sample management, and staff training coordination.
- Identifying and resolving complex issues that may impact test performance.
- Performing administrative tasks such as writing performance evaluations and reviewing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Leading preparation for inspections by regulatory bodies.
- Contributing to the management of the department's training initiatives in partnership with the education team.
- Coaching and mentoring laboratory staff, enhancing their troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Participating in quality assurance activities to uphold laboratory standards.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laboratory regulations.
- Strong project management and laboratory automation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Work Environment
This position requires the ability to work on various devices and may involve exposure to hazardous materials. The schedule is Monday to Friday, with a focus on maintaining high-quality standards and effective teamwork.
