Job Description:

  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized workspace, adhering to standard policies for instrument handling and record-keeping.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient setup and utilization of surgeon preferences, handling instruments with care and attention to detail.
  • Ensure accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments, and administer medications according to established policy.
  • Handle specimens in accordance with Operating Room Policy and Procedures, maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Participate in team conferences to plan care, evaluate effectiveness, and assist the circulator in revising the plan of care.
  • Rotate through specialty areas to maintain proficiency in surgical tech skills, updating checklists as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, parents, and caregivers, adapting care to meet individual needs.
  • Adhere to Organizational Competencies, ensuring high-quality patient care.
  • Float to the sameday surgery department as needed.
