Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team on the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at American Family Children's Hospital. As a PICU Nurse, you will provide comprehensive care to critically ill children from newborn to adult, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill children, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of patient progress and care.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and advancements in pediatric critical care.
Requirements:
  • Minimum one year of pediatric ICU experience required.
  • Experience in CV ICU, cardiac step down, or general cardiac care preferred.
  • Two years of acute care experience within the last three years required.
  • Experience in an Academic Level - Trauma center or similar size hospital preferred.
  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or compact license from permanent address state required.
  • BLS certification through American Heart Association required.
  • PALS certification through American Heart Association preferred.
