About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Supervisor to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Supervisory Social Worker in the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Collaborative Care Management program, you will be responsible for leading a team of Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselors (LPMHCs) and other mental health staff assigned to BHIP positions.
Main Responsibilities:
- Supervising a team of LPMHCs and other mental health staff assigned to BHIP positions.
- Establishing and maintaining records concerning clinical competencies, supervising the day-to-day activities of staff, and providing clinical consultation to staff on particularly difficult cases or ethical dilemmas.
- Ensuring that clinical operations are in conformance with all applicable regulatory bodies and collaborating with relevant parties on annual Performance Appraisals specific to staff.
- Developing, organizing, directing, and managing all aspects of the LPMHC professional activities, including comprehensive development, planning, and implementation of relevant policies and procedures, overseeing and directing the quality and quantity of services provided, monitoring data-driven outcomes, and establishing program initiatives and direction within limitations of available staff and budget.
- Collaborating with the Training Program Coordinator for oversight and implementation of training programs for all master's level mental health counseling students in training.
- Working closely with the assigned Program Manager and Deputy Chief of Psychology for ongoing management of program and clinic operations.
- Contributing to the gathering of biopsychosocial assessment information.
- Using shared decision making with Veterans to develop a detailed treatment plan for Veterans serviced by BHIP.
- Providing recovery planning and psychological treatment to Veterans with a wide range of co-occurring disorders.
- Providing evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy to Veterans with complex mental health problems.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
- Licensure or certification as a licensed clinical social worker.
- At least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, with possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competence and judgment.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in areas such as clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments, and quality improvement.
