Special Needs Educational Assistant

Position Type:
Support Staff/Paraprofessional

Location:
Mahoning County Education Service Center Consortium

Contract Hours: 5.75 hours per day
Report Times: 10:00 am to 3:45 pm
Salary: Starting hourly rate of $14.26 with annual step increases as per the negotiated agreement.

Reports To: Building Principals and the Special Education Director
Evaluations: Performance assessed annually in accordance with the negotiated agreement

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise students individually or in groups within various school settings.
  • Assist in a specialized education classroom environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Enforce student behavior standards established by the administration.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for all students.
  • Utilize diverse strategies to manage student behavior and resolve conflicts.
  • Support classroom management, including small group instruction.
  • Possess computer skills to assist students and perform clerical tasks.
  • Operate office equipment as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Building Administrators or Special Education Director.
Qualifications:
  1. Current background checks (State and Federal).
  2. Ohio Educational Aide Permit with ESEA endorsement.
  3. Negative drug screening.
Candidates must adhere to all relevant policies, laws, and ethical standards as set forth by the educational authorities. Essential functions of this role include punctuality and the ability to fulfill all job responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation.

The selected candidate will be required to complete all necessary training courses as assigned.
