About the Role

Axia Women's Health is seeking a skilled Laborist to join our team of healthcare professionals. As a Laborist, you will play a critical role in managing the care of our patients during labor and delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Labor and Delivery Management: Monitor and assess pregnant women in labor, make decisions regarding the timing and method of delivery, administer pain relief medications as needed, provide emotional support to the mother and her family, and address any complications or emergencies that arise during labor and delivery.
  • Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough physical examinations of pregnant patients, review medical histories and prenatal records, order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as ultrasound scans, fetal heart rate monitoring, and blood tests.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, midwives, anesthesiologists, and neonatologists, to provide comprehensive care, communicate effectively with the patient's primary OB-GYN, providing updates on the progress of labor.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of patient assessments, interventions, and progress during labor, complete birth certificates and other required documentation.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to obstetric emergencies, such as fetal distress, placental abruption, or maternal hemorrhage.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety in labor and delivery.
Qualifications
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification in obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Current state medical license and ability to obtain necessary hospital privileges.
  • Strong clinical skills in obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and make quick decisions in high-stress situations.
  • Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
