About the Role

The Contra Costa County Office of Education is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Instructional Assistant to join our Special Education team. As an Instructional Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal growth of students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist certificated teachers in providing instruction to individual and/or small groups of students with learning, emotional, physical, cognitive, and/or behavioral disabilities.
  • Provide physical care to students with severe physical disabilities.
  • Assist in implementing student Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Observe, monitor, and record student performance and behavior.
  • Perform administrative functions in support of classroom activities.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of college-level coursework in child development or a related field.
  • One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience working with children with special education needs in an organized setting.
  • A valid California Driver's License.
  • A written proficiency test may be required for applicants who do not meet certain requirements.
  • Employment is contingent upon satisfactory Physical Strength Testing results.
  • Bilingual skills may be required.
