Position Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst for Project Management serves as the primary contact for all financial and accounting requirements at the project level. Each project at Kiewit operates similarly to a small enterprise, with the Project Financial Analyst acting as the Chief Financial Officer for their respective project, typically valued up to $200 million. This role involves direct interaction with project and district management, delivering trusted insights into the financial status of projects.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assessing construction job costs.
  • Conducting data reporting and analysis for management.

  • Ensuring accurate revenue recognition.

The Project Financial Analyst is also tasked with the training, development, and oversight of all project business personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project forecasting reviews, utilizing historical and trending data to validate forecasts, adhering to company standards for cost and revenue reporting.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn the intricacies of field operations to enhance the understanding and communication of financial reports and data.
  • Assist the Operations team in decision-making by identifying, quantifying, and communicating financial risks and opportunities.
  • Manage employee performance by clearly communicating expectations and goals, providing coaching, and delivering honest feedback during performance reviews.
  • Prepare client invoicing, manage accounts receivable and revenue, and review project cash flow projections monthly.
  • Review and comprehend prime contracts and change orders, including insurance, taxes, payment terms, and labor laws.
  • Implement proper internal controls and act as the main point of contact for any internal or external financial audits.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization and advocate for positive change.
  • Build trust and credibility with the Operations team to foster better cohesion and clear communication within the organization.
  • Exhibit exceptional customer service skills, demonstrating a positive attitude and willingness to assist when needed.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in financial or data analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Fundamental knowledge of accounting principles, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with experience in Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other essential functions.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and commitment to producing high-quality results.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Exhibit a high level of professionalism and standards.
  • Must be able to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate as necessary for the position (up to 50%).

Additional Requirements

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation ranges from $68,652 to $102,978, with actual compensation subject to variation based on factors such as education, experience, skillset, and location.
