Job Title: Certified School Nurse

Join our team as a Certified School Nurse at Des Plaines School District 62. As a key member of our student services department, you will play a vital role in providing health services to students and staff.

Job Summary:

The Certified School Nurse will be responsible for delivering health services in the school setting, including the delivery of services to students and staff members. This role requires a strong understanding of professional school nurse practice and the IL Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide health services to students and staff, including first aid, wound care, and medication administration.
  • Develop and implement health education programs for students and staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to ensure students receive comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students.
  • Participate in health screenings and assessments, including vision and hearing screenings.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and protocols.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, staff, and parents on health-related issues.
Requirements:
  • Hold a Professional Educator License in State of Illinois.
  • Current SN Endorsement in State of Illinois.
  • Current RN State of Illinois license.
  • Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation program completion.
  • Experience in nursing and school setting preferred.
  • Illinois Certification as a Vision and Hearing screening technician preferred.
  • Computer literacy and competency in use of existing technology.
Working Conditions:

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, and work is usually conducted indoors. Occasional travel from one school site to another is expected.

Evaluation:

Job performance is evaluated in accordance with district guidelines by the evaluator. The District has a policy of active recruitment of qualified minority teachers and non-certificated employees.
