Key Responsibilities- Pre-Surgical Preparation: Prepare the operating room to ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are available, and the environment is safe and sterile.
- Surgical Support: Assist the surgical team during procedures, handling instruments, supplies, and equipment as needed, and maintaining asepsis and sterile field.
- Patient Care: Provide comfort and safety measures to patients, ensuring their well-being and fluid balance during the procedure.
- Equipment and Supply Management: Utilize organizational assets effectively, managing supplies, equipment, and time to promote efficiency and minimize waste.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain a safe and efficient surgical environment, adhering to sterilization, decontamination, and disinfection procedures to reduce the risk of infection.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the surgical team to ensure seamless execution of procedures, and provide support to other roles as needed to maintain high-quality patient care.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to initiatives that enhance the surgical services and patient experience.
- Education: Associate's degree in a healthcare-related field or equivalent certification.
- Certification: Surgical Technician Certificate from an accredited program within 12 months of hire.
- Work Experience: 2+ years of cardiovascular experience (for Rapid City Market CV Team) or 1+ year of surgical technologist experience (for Monument Health Orthopedic Specialty Hospital).
This role requires heavy work, exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 100 pounds of force occasionally. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.
