Job Summary

The Parks and Recreation Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of all Parks and Recreation facilities. This position is deemed essential personnel and safety sensitive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all Parks and Recreation facilities, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning baseboards.
  • Clean and polish interior and exterior glass and glass doors.
  • Remove trash from all containers and keep sufficient cleaning and paper supplies in inventory.
  • Monitor readiness and accessibility of public restrooms and report any necessary repairs to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of general work experience preferred.
  • American Red Cross Certification or ability to obtain certification within six months of employment.
Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee frequently works outside in adverse weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, wet or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, vibration, and exposure to fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals.

Physical Demands

The employee must be able to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.

Mental Demands

The incumbent must perform detailed work and be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time.
