Position Overview: The occupational therapist is responsible for accurately evaluating and identifying limitations in a patient's capacity to perform daily living activities (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) due to physical, cognitive, and/or psychological challenges. The therapist formulates a personalized treatment strategy with patient-focused objectives to be achieved through therapeutic interventions and the application of ADLs. This may involve adapting or modifying the environment or objects within it to enhance engagement and participation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts patient assessments by creating an occupational profile, evaluating occupational performance, and collaborating with the patient to set goals aligned with their experiences, values, priorities, and desired outcomes. This may also include performing relevant system reviews and selecting and administering specific tests and measures to gather data.
  2. Develops a tailored plan of care and chooses therapeutic interventions that address the specific impairments identified during the evaluation and in accordance with physician directives.
  3. Performs continuous reassessment of the patient and their response to treatment.
  4. Initiates and oversees the discharge plan starting from the initial visit and continuing throughout the treatment process.
  5. Supervises and delegates tasks to ancillary staff and students in accordance with state regulations and departmental policies.
  6. Ensures completion of clear, accurate, and timely documentation as per departmental policies and accreditation standards.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • Graduation from an accredited occupational therapy program.
  • Current licensure from the State Board of Occupational Therapy.
  • BLS certification.
Preferred:
  • Minimum of one year of experience as an occupational therapist.
  • Registration with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

If the test results are positive, the offer will be rescinded. Individuals who test positive may reapply for employment after a six-month period.
