Job Overview

Position: Construction Equipment Technician

Southland Holdings is seeking skilled and dedicated mechanics to enhance our operations as experienced Construction Equipment Technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and resolve issues to ensure the reliability of our heavy construction machinery, including crawler cranes, hydraulic cranes, and earth-moving equipment.

• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems on mobile machinery in a safe manner.

• Operate a one-ton or larger vehicle with a standard transmission.

• Conduct inspections and operations of machinery to identify defects.

• Disassemble and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools.

• Welding and torch cutting skills are advantageous.

• Ability to read and understand repair manuals is essential.

• Willingness to travel and stay overnight as required by project demands.

• Inspect components for damage and excessive wear.

• Test repaired machinery to confirm efficient operation.

• Assist in the assembly and disassembly of cranes.

• Commitment to performing preventative maintenance on various types of equipment.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience with cranes, hydraulics, and general heavy machinery (including Telehandlers, Skid Steers, Loaders, and Excavators).

• Adherence to company policies and procedures is mandatory.

• Ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds occasionally.

• Physically fit to navigate rugged terrains as part of job duties.

• Capability to work in diverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.

• Must be punctual and able to work independently while maintaining a work schedule.

• Availability for overtime work is required.

• Ability to stand, squat, stoop, bend, and lift for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Welding certification is a plus.

• OSHA safety training and current First Aid and CPR certification are beneficial.
