Experienced Meat Cutter

We are seeking a skilled Meat Cutter to join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club. As a Meat Cutter, you will be responsible for receiving, rotating, cutting, wrapping, and merchandising fresh and processed meats, including grinds. You will also assist in merchandising seafood, prepared foods, cheeses, and pre-packed deli items, as well as assist in the rotisserie chicken area and full-service deli.

• Engage with members by making recommendations and answering questions regarding meat, poultry, and seafood.
• Cut, grind, and/or process fresh meats to company cutting standards.
• Weigh, package, wrap, and label cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood to company packaging standards.
• Ensure the meat case showcases all currently available products and maintain an appropriate level of inventory.
• Clean and sanitize all equipment, display fixtures, and areas in the meat department, including the meat cooler, freezer, and refrigerated display cases.
• Inspect and store meat upon delivery, ensuring that all received meats meet or exceed company quality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including placing orders and working in other departments as needed.

• Completion of a training program/apprenticeship required.
• Previous meat cutting experience required.
• Knowledge of automatic/hand wrapping machines preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.

The majority of the time will be spent moving about on hard surfaces, with occasional need to position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, which may require bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping. Frequently requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds, with occasional need to lift and move heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.

Located in a cooler area with frequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises, with occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
