Event Manager Job Description

About the Role:

The Nantucket Hotel & Resort is seeking an experienced Event Manager to join our team. As an Event Manager, you will be responsible for the successful execution of all events and overall growth for the department in collaboration with the Director of Sales and Events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Annual growth of event revenues by upselling catering packages and wedding add-ons
  • Staying active within the island communities to have a presence at meetings, planning events, and committees
  • Conduct site visits for booked and prospective events
  • Prompt communication with clients from turnover leading up to the event
  • Maintain proper documentation of all aspects of events including special requests and financial details
  • Monitor all events to ensure the group expectations are being exceeded or met, as well as resolving any unexpected challenges that may arise
  • Conduct tastings for qualifying events, working alongside the Chef and F&B Manager
  • Development of menu, floorplan, and timeline for all booked events
  • Timely execution of BEOs and group resumes for all booked events
  • Working closely with the food and beverage team for day of coordination with client, outside vendors, and all department heads to ensure all details of BEO are executed
  • Follow up with all clients post-event
  • Ring in all events and work with accounting and the DOSE to reconcile all events
  • Assist food and beverage team with all in-house events
  • Act as onsite representative for marketing initiatives

Requirements:

  • Experience in Catering and Sales, as well as Wedding and Event Coordination
  • Strong project management and creative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency using Tripleseat, All Seated, and Positouch is ideal but not required

What We Offer:

A year-round position based on-site on Nantucket between March – early December. Remote work is optional for the months of January and February when the Hotel is closed. Weekend and evening work is also expected during peak event periods. During the spring and fall, the work schedule can be intense. Hybrid work is allowed when needed, should the Events Manager need to work 1 day from home per work week when your schedule allows.
