The Critical Care Registered Nurse is accountable for utilizing the nursing process to provide safe, age-appropriate, direct and indirect patient care, while practicing within the scope of practice of the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
Department DescriptionThe Intensive Care Unit at Samaritan Health Services provides direct care or influences care for acutely/critically ill patients who are at high risk for actual or potential life-threatening health problems. The ICU provides care through advanced knowledge and experience in a setting that provides intensive monitoring, assessments, and interventions.
Responsibilities- Provide direct and indirect patient care to critically ill patients
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
- Monitor and report patient status to physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes
- Current unencumbered Oregon RN license
- Healthcare Provider Level BLS certification
- ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications within six (6) months of hire
- Previous ICU experience preferred, but not required
- Previous ICU experience
- ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
- Social Perceptiveness: Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
- Effective written and oral communication skills
