Job Description:

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh are seeking a Director of Neonatal Developmental Care to lead our team in providing high-quality care to high-risk infants.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in neonatal-perinatal medicine and experience in developmental care. They will be responsible for assessing the developmental needs of neonates and their families, planning and implementing developmentally supportive care strategies, and educating staff on advanced developmental care.

The Director will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure that our care is delivered in a developmentally appropriate environment that promotes parent-infant bonding. They will also be responsible for creating best practice, data-driven education to guide the growth and competence of our healthcare team members.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing developmental needs of neonates and their families
  • Planning and implementing developmentally supportive care strategies
  • Creating best practice, data-driven education
  • Partnering with clinical specialists and Clinical Educators to facilitate learning-based education design and implementation
  • Maintaining complete and timely documentation of all assessments, evaluations, interventions, and communications

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neonatal-perinatal medicine, experience in developmental care, and excellent leadership and communication skills. They will be qualified for a medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and have a minimum of 3 years NICU developmental experience post-fellowship.
