Job Title: Collector

Austin Telco Federal Credit Union is seeking a highly skilled Collector to join our team. As a Collector, you will play a critical role in maintaining day-to-day collections procedures and ensuring the timely recovery of loan accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain consistent daily follow-up of all past due and delinquent accounts.
  • Utilize telephone and email contact with members to resolve delinquent accounts.
  • Counsel members on the importance of maintaining a good credit rating.
  • Research and correct posting errors on delinquent accounts.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Collections and Senior Collector to resolve problem accounts.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare collections and late payment letters.
  • Obtain credit reports as required and update credit information with credit bureaus.
  • Process repossessions, bankruptcies, charge-offs, and collateral protection insurance as assigned.
  • Perform clerical duties and daily mail.
  • Engage in cross-selling opportunities to inform members of available credit union services.
  • Attend training sessions as assigned and complete documentation for loan extensions and collection refinances.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of laws regarding repossessions, collections, and bankruptcy.
  • Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
