About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Access Specialist to join our team at Tahoe Forest Health System. This role is responsible for providing exceptional patient experience by scheduling appointments, answering inquiries, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.

As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work closely with patients, families, care-givers, providers, clinical and non-clinical staff to coordinate the patient's experience through-out the process of accessing healthcare.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Scheduling appointments for primary care, specialty providers, and hospital services;
  • Providing information to callers, including directions, addresses, telephone numbers, appointment times, etc.
  • Answering incoming phone calls to hospital's main numbers and routing calls appropriately;
  • Educating patients on various self-service programs offered by the District;
  • Interviews patients to effectively schedule and register;
  • Collects, verifies, and updates patient demographics, guarantor information, and insurance information;
  • Establishes eligibility and verifies benefits;
  • Determines and collects co-pays and estimated out-of-pocket expenses as appropriate;
  • Advises patients and families of hospital financial policies;
  • Refers to financial counselor as necessary;
  • Obtains authorizations if assigned;
  • Follows established parameters to ensure procedures, treatments, tests, and appointments are scheduled with the required amount of time and with the appropriate resources;
