Job Title: Home Based Teacher

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Home Based Teacher to join our team at Focus: HOPE. As a Home Based Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality educational services to pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and their parents in the comfort of their own homes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Implement Educational Plans: Create and implement individualized educational plans for each child, using a selected curriculum as a guide and other resources as needed.
  2. Conduct Home Visits: Conduct regular home visits to ensure that weekly visits are conducted and that the attendance rate for each assigned child/family is at or above 85%.
  3. Build Trusting Relationships: Develop trusting relationships with families by being a positive role model, providing emotional support, and empowering clients through positive feedback.
  4. Assist with Problem Solving: Assist parents with problem-solving and provide emotional support to help them navigate challenges.
  5. Coordinate with Other Staff: Coordinate with other staff members to ensure that health screenings for children and other family members are conducted and that parents are informed of needed screenings.
  6. Maintain Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality regarding home and school environments.
  7. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including attendance, meal counts, contact logs, parent contacts, and other relevant information.

Requirements:

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (with a ZA or Early Childhood endorsement) required.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with pregnant women and infants and toddlers is preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with young children and their families, knowledge of child development, and ability to develop and implement Family Partnership Agreements and IFSPs.
