Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CT Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing CT scans and reformations according to established clinical protocols, guidelines, and department operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Position patients correctly, using proper immobilization techniques
  • Perform optimal scans using correct technical factors and protocols, based on the patient diagnosis, history, and other relevant clinical information
  • Use correct technical factors in accordance with the American College of Radiology (ACR) to use the lowest amount of radiation to get a diagnostic scan
  • Perform CT angiography, 3D reconstruction, and post-processing of computer data to enhance exams for radiologist interpretation, using reconstruction software appropriate to the pathology or region of interest
  • Follow correct CT Department Technologist workflow, including starting exams in RadNet, selecting the correct scan room and technologist, scanning patients, sending images to PACs, scanning all paperwork and data sheets, completing cases in RadNet, charging for contrast media, and verifying that all images, series, and data sheets have been sent to PACs
  • Operate support equipment for CT, including independent workstations, pressure injectors, PACs, and RadNet
  • Initiate IVs for administration of contrast media for CT, in accordance with department policy and utilizing standard precautions
  • Prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures and encouraging questions and answering any questions the patient may have
  • Transport patients to and from departments when necessary, assist in transferring patients on and off the CT table, and continually monitor patient condition during CT procedures
  • Work with radiologists to tailor protocols to meet patient exam requirements
Requirements
  • 3-year general radiology ARRT registry
  • IEMA license
  • CPR certification within 3 months of hire
  • IV certification within 3 months of hire
  • Must pass advanced CT certification within 1 year of hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and basic CT procedures
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Computer competence
