Job Title: Shelter Veterinarian

Job Summary:

The Cleveland Animal Protective League (APL) is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Shelter Veterinarian to join our team. As a key member of our veterinary staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to animals in our shelter, including spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and medical treatments.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and medical treatments for animals in our shelter
  • Provide daily clinical supervision of veterinary technicians, students, and assistants
  • Stay up-to-date on current best surgical practices and make recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with other veterinary staff to ensure seamless care and treatment of animals
  • Communicate effectively with clients, volunteers, and staff to ensure excellent customer service
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current on best practices and new technologies

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited college or university
  • Ohio veterinary license in good standing
  • Experience in high-volume spay/neuter and shelter medicine
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
