Hyannis, Massachusetts, United States AIS Inc Full time

AIS Inc is seeking Marine Biologists to join its team of scientists and observers. As a Marine Biologist, you will be responsible for collecting and recording data on fish catches, discards, and incidental takes such as marine mammals, seabirds, and marine turtles.

The primary goal of this role is to provide quantitative biological information for the New England and Mid-Atlantic fishery. You will work on commercial fishing vessels operating in ports throughout these regions, collecting data on fishing programs, economics, catch data, and fishing efficiency.

As a Marine Biologist, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the environment and preserve future generations of fish and fishermen. You will record detailed information on the gear and fishing activity of the vessels, working on deck on trips ranging from 7 to 14 days.

To be successful in this role, you must be physically able to handle heavy lifting, working odd hours, and long days in rough seas. You will also need to be mentally prepared to be away from home for multiple days at a time.

This is a challenging job that requires dedication and a strong commitment to the program. However, it can also be a rewarding career with a broad range of advancement opportunities available to those who demonstrate appropriate capabilities.

The salary for this role is estimated to be between $35,000 and $55,000 per year, dependent on your availability to deploy offshore and your personal sea day accomplishments. You will be paid a minimum of 12 hours for each calendar day offshore and are also eligible for additional compensable activities while on land.

In addition to a competitive salary, AIS Inc offers a comprehensive benefits package including health and dental insurance, vacation, sick and holiday benefits. You may also be eligible for additional compensation through our data quality bonus, service awards, fitness center reimbursement, and candidate referral bonus programs.

If you are a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a passion for marine biology and fisheries management, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
