The Cardiology Advanced Practitioner plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in the outpatient clinic setting. This position requires a skilled professional to manage patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions, utilizing advanced knowledge to identify, prevent, or solve complex and/or recurring patient care problems.
Key Responsibilities- Support efficient management of patients with known/potential cardiac diagnoses such as chest pain, syncope, dysrhythmias.
- Conduct daily physical assessments on all patients.
- Consult with the supervising physician regarding physical findings and course of treatment.
- Order appropriate medications and diagnostic tests as determined by the supervising physician.
- Initiate consultations to other services, authorized by the supervising physician.
- Evaluate and monitor quality measurements as indicated by Steward Health Care Network in accordance with the supervising physician's guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals in the planning, implementation, and coordination of health teaching and counseling of the patient, family, or patient representative.
- Document patient level of understanding.
- May also be responsible for coordination with other clinical staff, nurses, and other physicians involved in the care of patients.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Current board certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners required for NP candidate.
- Current Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license required.
- At least 3-5 years of previous experience working in a dedicated cardiology practice or hospital setting preferred.
