Overview

Altria Group, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified Senior Director, Federal Government Affairs to lead the development and implementation of legislative and political strategies to support company initiatives and protect or promote interests in the U.S. Congress and federal policy arena.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Members of Congress and their staff, key executive branch officials, trade associations, and industry coalitions.
  2. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Altria's businesses to effectively represent company positions and interests before Congress and in the federal policy arena.
  3. Analyze proposed and existing federal legislation and regulations impacting Altria and its family of companies, shareholders, employees, business partners, and adult consumers.
  4. Prepare and present information and recommendations to senior management and executives.
  5. Communicate directly with company leaders on legislative and regulatory issues affecting the organization.
  6. Develop letters, talking points, issue summaries, and white papers related to relevant legislative topics.
  7. Advise and engage with internal and external partners to positively impact legislative and regulatory outcomes.
  8. Build and manage industry and legislative coalitions to achieve key objectives.
About You:
  • Bachelor's degree with advanced education preferred (Law, Tax, Political Science).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in government affairs, lobbying, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the federal legislative process and regulatory processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and presentation skills.
Salary and Benefits:
