We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Counselor II to join our team at Aspirus Health. This role will be responsible for managing patient account credit and collection activities, including tracking patient accounts transferred to outside collection agencies, performing financial assistance screening, and working with patients on payment arrangements.
Key Responsibilities- Manage patient account credit and collection activities, including tracking patient accounts transferred to outside collection agencies.
- Perform financial assistance screening and work with patients on payment arrangements.
- Provide assistance with escalated customer service inquiries and participate in the complaint and grievance process.
- Complete price estimates and monitor patient insurance.
- Provide financial resources planning, advocacy, and referral services to patients and their families.
- Knowledge of basic accounting, patient financial practices, and governmental and legal rules and regulations related to collection activities.
- Technical school or college majoring in a health information program is desired.
- Knowledge of insurance and medical terminology is desired.
- One year of experience in social work, a public aid office, or finance background is desired.
- Minimum of three years' experience in healthcare working collections is preferred.
- Prior experience in implementing new collections policies is desired.
- Previous financial or medical insurance experience is beneficial.
- Prior Epic knowledge is beneficial.
- Licensed and bonded collector status is beneficial.
