About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Riverside Medical Clinic. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing venipuncture and processing patient specimens for analysis or other medical purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients in preparation for venipuncture procedures, explaining the process to gain cooperation and understanding.
- Perform venipuncture using universal precautions and approved techniques to ensure appropriate patient care.
- Complete all paperwork and documentation as required for each exam performed.
- Utilize the Order Entry System to access orders and complete exams.
- Obtain specimens, ensure adequate quantity for tests ordered, and complete applicable logs.
- Respond to draw requests and medical emergencies, such as STAT, ASAP, and timed draws.
- Assist with the scheduling of tests and appointments.
- Recognize patients' privacy and safeguard those rights.
- Respond to life-saving situations following policies, procedures, and protocol.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement activities.
- Stock supplies as necessary.
- Process specimens in accordance with laboratory protocol.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Possess Phlebotomy and Advanced Phlebotomy certificate from an accredited training institute.
- California State Phlebotomy Tech I certificate required.
- Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) certification required.
