Position Overview:
The Radiation Oncology Physicist plays a crucial role in ensuring the precision and safety of radiation therapy treatments. Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive quality assurance and calibration of therapy machines and treatment planning systems.
2. Collaborate with medical personnel to maintain high standards of patient care and safety.
3. Oversee the implementation of advanced treatment techniques such as:
  • Conformal therapy
  • Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
  • Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)
  • RapidArc
  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)
  • Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT)
  • High-Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy
4. Ensure effective patient dose verification using advanced systems.
5. Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to therapeutic services.
6. Develop and implement quality control programs to guarantee the safety and efficacy of radiation delivery.
7. Communicate effectively with a diverse range of professionals including physicians, nursing staff, and administrative personnel.
8. Ensure the Cancer Center operates in alignment with established goals and objectives.

Qualifications:
Education:
Master's or Doctorate degree in Medical Physics or a related field is required, preferably from a CAMPEP accredited program.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Physicist in a Radiation Therapy department is essential, including residency experience.

Licensure and Certification:
Must possess certification as an Authorized Medical Physicist as defined by relevant regulatory bodies within one year of employment. Successful completion of part 2 of the American Board of Radiology (ABR) exam is required upon hire, with part 3 certification to be achieved within two years.

Skills and Competencies:
1. In-depth knowledge of radiation safety protocols and quality assurance processes.
2. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care and safety.
