Job Summary

The Weld Manager is responsible for overseeing the Weld Department and leading a team of experienced welders to meet customer goals. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills to ensure the team's success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct managerial oversight of the department and personnel.
  • Coordinate, plan, and direct all activities of the Weld Department that contribute to the repair of turbine engine components.
  • Establish daily, weekly, and monthly objectives and communicate the plan to the weld team.
  • Oversee the safety and well-being of the team in accordance with company standards.
  • Monitor assigned work while reviewing completed jobs/projects to ensure adherence to work scope and company expectations.
  • Motivate, coach, and counsel team members to achieve desired results.
  • Manage personnel work hours, scheduled time off, shift schedules, and overtime to meet customer requirements.
  • Perform functions such as performance reviews, employee development, accountability of team members, conflict resolution, and disciplinary action.
  • Collaborate with designated trainers and department managers to monitor, guide, and improve upon employee development as well as process improvements.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled department meetings, including monthly meetings and smaller more frequent group meetings as required. Communicate changes that affect employees in a timely manner.
  • Detect issues in efficiency and suggest methods for improvements.
Requirements
  • A minimum of three years' experience as a supervisor or manager in a manufacturing environment with experience in weld repair or fabrication, with emphasis in TIG welding desired.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in interpreting and following verbal and written instructions accurately, including the reading and interpretation of shop drawings and work scope instructions, and applying basic shop math skills to the same.
  • High School graduate, with advanced educational accreditation preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task while adhering to a high attention to detail standards.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Overall knowledge of manufacturing processes and production equipment.
Work Environment
  • This position has pre-employment testing requirements that may require fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
  • Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
  • Work in difficult positions from time to time. Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift. Move parts (>50 pounds) using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods. Move less heavy parts (
