Position Overview
Become an integral part of a prestigious academic healthcare institution, UChicago Medicine, as an Ophthalmic Imaging Specialist within the Ophthalmology Clinic.

Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the physician, the Ophthalmic Imaging Specialist will conduct patient assessments that encompass fluorescein angiograms, fundus photography, corneal topography, external ocular imaging, and recordings of ocular motility.

This role includes assisting in the development and upkeep of a computerized database for patient histories and diagnoses, as well as maintaining photographic records, equipment, and inventory of supplies.

Essential Duties
- Engage in effective communication with patients and clients, adapting to their needs while fostering a respectful and professional environment.
- Capture high-quality images of the eye utilizing advanced imaging technologies such as Zeiss OCT, Zeiss Visucam, Optovue, Heidelberg, Haag-Streit Lenstar, Optos, Slit-Lamp Camera, Pentacam, and additional equipment as required.

- Measure intraocular lens parameters using the IOL master.
- Assist in ordering photographic and medical supplies necessary for the imaging suite.
- Regularly check equipment functionality and notify management regarding repairs or maintenance needs.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited program for Ophthalmic Technicians is mandatory.
- A minimum of one year of relevant work experience under ophthalmological supervision is necessary.
- Certification by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology or an equivalent is required.
- One year of practical experience with essential imaging devices for the Ophthalmology patient demographic is essential.
- Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) is required.
- Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT) is preferred or must be obtained within two years of employment.

Position Details
- Job Type: Full-Time, 1.0 FTE.
- Shift: Day, 8 hours (9:30 AM – 6:00 PM).
- Unit/Department: Ophthalmic Imaging.

In this position, you will typically work around 40 hours per week, primarily during the day shift, with on-call responsibilities as needed.
