Position Summary
The Operator position is crucial for ensuring the safety, quality, and efficiency of machine operations. This role involves the timely processing of customer orders and the management of material flow, thereby contributing to overall process effectiveness. The Operator is also tasked with the safe and efficient operation of machinery, including the proper tagging and movement of finished products to subsequent stages as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance, which is essential for both individual and team effectiveness.
  • Receive and interpret instructions, material requirements, and work orders.
  • Plan and detail working procedures for optimal workflow.
  • Stage materials appropriately within the work area.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and set up machines as required.
  • Operate machinery to execute tasks according to specifications and blueprints.
  • Perform initial inspections to ensure all dimensions meet specified tolerances.
  • Make necessary adjustments to machinery to maintain quality standards.
  • Run successive pieces or perform multiple operations as needed.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of parts as per job instructions.
  • Organize finished materials on pallets or in containers, ensuring proper labeling.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately.
  • Transport materials to the next designated area as required.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to lead by example and mentor team members.
  • Competence in reading production logs and required documentation.
  • Strong understanding of machine processes and potential defects in materials.
  • Ability to compose accurate reports on rejected materials.
  • Basic proficiency in writing and mathematics.
  • Familiarity with computer systems.
  • Capability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions.
  • Problem-solving skills in standardized situations.
  • Proficiency in reading measuring devices and blueprints.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety protocols and training manuals.
  • Ability to perform quality checks and surface inspections of materials.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, and lift materials as required.
  • Possession of a forklift and crane license is preferred.
  • Completion of OSHA safety training is mandatory.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical requirements for this position include:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Capacity to exert moderate to heavy physical effort, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong range of motion and physical dexterity.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions.
  • Compliance with PPE requirements.
  • Physical access to all areas of the facility.

Education
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
