The Surgical Technologist Specialist is integral to the surgical team, acting as the primary scrub during operations and ensuring that all surgical procedures are conducted efficiently. This role involves the meticulous organization of surgical environments, preparation of essential instruments, and readiness of supplies necessary for successful surgeries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute surgical procedures in accordance with established protocols, policies, and aseptic techniques.
  • Prepare the surgical area with sterile drapes, instruments, solutions, and necessary supplies.
  • Provide instruments and materials to the surgeon while ensuring a sterile field is maintained.
  • Assist in the preparation, positioning, and draping of patients for surgical interventions.
  • Maintain an orderly arrangement of instruments and accurately track counts throughout the surgical process.
  • Continuously enhance skills and knowledge pertinent to the role, actively engaging in learning about emerging surgical techniques.
  • Mentor and train new personnel and students in surgical technology as needed.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the operation of specialized medical equipment.
  • Be available for on-call responsibilities as required.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
Educational Qualifications:
  • Minimum: Certification as a Surgical Technologist or Licensed Practical Nurse from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred: Associate Degree in a related field.
Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum: 3-5 years of experience in a multi-specialty operating room as a Surgical Technologist or LPN.
  • Preferred: More than 5 years of experience in a multi-specialty surgical environment, along with active membership in a relevant professional organization.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:

Minimum:
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Basic Life Support Certification (American Heart Association).
