Job Overview

At the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), we are seeking a highly skilled Weatherization Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the Texas power grid.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct on-site and remote inspections of generating stations and transmission facilities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ERCOT Nodal Protocols.
  • Monitor and determine whether weather emergency preparedness reliability standards are met, and identify areas of potential non-compliance.
  • Provide detailed inspection reports, request mitigation and corrective action, and verify remedial work has been completed.
  • Collaborate with internal and external personnel to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of applicable standards and guiding principles for inspection strategies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • ERCOT Weatherization Inspector Certification required within the first year of hire and annual continuing training requirements.
  • Minimum 1-5 years of related work experience in the electric utility industry, depending on level.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Related work experience in thermal power plant maintenance or operations.
  • Familiarity with power plant weatherization in thermal and intermittent technologies.
  • Familiarity with transmission operation and equipment.
  • Tech savvy with good working knowledge of MS Office Suite and Service Now Software.
Working Conditions

Travel required, up to 75% for multiple days at a time. Ability to walk, climb stairs and ladders, stand for prolonged periods, and access power plant and transmission facilities while wearing appropriate PPE.
