Position Overview
The Child Speech Language Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality, effective, and patient-centered care tailored to the unique needs of children with speech and language challenges. This role involves addressing various communication, cognitive, and swallowing difficulties through specialized therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts comprehensive assessments for each child referred by a physician, gathering relevant health history and selecting appropriate evaluation tools.
- Utilizes clinical expertise to formulate accurate therapy diagnoses and forecasts achievable outcomes, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Engages both the child and their family in the goal-setting process, ensuring that therapeutic interventions are personalized and effective.
- Designs, implements, and modifies treatment strategies based on ongoing evaluations, ensuring alignment with patient needs and expectations.
- Maintains thorough documentation and communication regarding patient progress, adhering to regulatory and professional standards.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals as needed, making referrals to enhance patient care.
- Participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, contributing ideas for service enhancement and program development.
- Assists in managing clinic operations, including scheduling and maintaining a smooth workflow.
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support the team and organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Communication Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology.
- Current licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist in the relevant state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the first 60 days of employment.
- Valid driver’s license is necessary for those providing home care services.
Physical Requirements
- Light physical demands, including occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs and frequent lifting of up to 10 lbs.
