Dyslexia and ESL Specialist Teacher

Alba-Golden Independent School District is seeking a highly qualified Dyslexia and ESL Specialist Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying dyslexic students, providing services to dyslexia students, and serving as ESL Coordinator for the district.
Responsibilities:
Identify dyslexic students by administering and interpreting diagnostic tests
Provide services to dyslexia students and serve as ESL Coordinator for the district
Instruct and evaluate students with dyslexia in any phase of the program
Provide assistance to teachers in English/Language Arts and Reading instruction as well as RtI at all TIERED levels
Assist teachers in utilizing effective reading practices within the classroom setting
Assist in coordination of Section 504 referral process and instruction of students with dyslexia
Provide instructional support and/or direct instruction, as mandated by Texas law, for students with dyslexia
Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels
Assist with intervention in other identified areas to include Math
Work intensively with students identified with dyslexia using a state approved curriculum as well as with students identified with reading difficulties in order for the students to read on grade level
Implement the procedures in the state Dyslexia Handbook
Administer assessments and present results for the purpose of progress monitoring of students with dyslexia and/or reading difficulties
Participate in 504 and/or ARD meetings related to students previously assessed or under review
Collaborate with principals and other intervention specialists to develop individualized intervention plans for students
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills
Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies for special education teachers
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
