Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Lead Commodity Buyer to join our Actuation & Accessories procurement team. This role involves managing key supplier relationships to secure optimal contractual terms, pricing, quality, and delivery schedules, while ensuring satisfaction among internal stakeholders. You will oversee the complete supplier engagement process, from request for proposal (RFP) through to contract execution and fulfillment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full lifecycle of supplier relationships, including bidder list creation, request for quotation (RFQ), bid evaluation, selection, negotiations, contract award, documentation of the bidding process, purchase order issuance, and fulfillment.
- Monitor supplier on-time delivery (OTD) and quality performance metrics.
- Ensure adherence to delivery schedules and commitments.
- Facilitate material review board (MRB) documentation between suppliers and internal teams.
- Lead supplier recovery planning and execution as needed.
- Develop, present, and implement supplier strategies to ensure optimal value, including consistent delivery aligned with schedule and quality standards.
- Manage and negotiate claims and special projects as required.
- Track engineering change activities and coordinate detail overlap processes with suppliers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Planning, Engineering, Quality, Programs, Finance, Legal, and Manufacturing.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of procurement best practices.
- Advise management on approaches, processes, and procedures related to the supply base.
- Assist in the onboarding and training of new team members.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business with a minimum of 5 years of strategic sourcing experience, including RFPs, supplier selection, and contract management. Alternatively, a high school diploma/GED with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, subcontract execution, and manufacturing workflows.
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience in sourcing controlled hardware such as valves, tubing, ducting, and wiring harnesses.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Experience working with executive leadership.
- Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (preferably SAP) and supplier relationship management tools.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Experience in the aerospace industry.
