Environmental Geologist III

The Kentucky Energy & Environment Cabinet is seeking a highly skilled Geologist III to join their team. As a Geologist III, you will play a crucial role in providing technical oversight and support regarding groundwater effects of solid and special waste landfills to state and federal agencies, local governments, and the general public.
Key responsibilities include conducting complex geological reviews of solid and special waste landfill applications, coordinating and assisting in the compilation of computer-generated geological site-specific environmental permits, conducting field investigations of solid and special waste facilities regulated by DWM, and providing technical assistance to other department staff, owners and operators, public, consultants, and other governmental agencies.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You will also need to have a bachelor's degree in geology, earth system science, earth and environmental sciences, or a related field, and three years of geological experience.
The Division of Waste Management, Solid Waste Branch Program is responsible for processing permit applications, reporting documents, and fees for various types of waste management and disposal facilities. The regulatory requirements for each type of facility vary depending on the waste.
