Department Overview
The Surgical Services team at Corewell Health operates within a state-of-the-art environment, featuring twenty-one (21) operating rooms that function around the clock. Our team specializes in a variety of surgical disciplines, with a strong emphasis on trauma, orthopedic surgery, acute care, and neurosurgery. We pride ourselves on our interdisciplinary approach, collaborating closely with anesthesia providers, physicians, nurses, and surgical technicians to deliver exceptional patient care.
Role Responsibilities
The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in ensuring the surgical suite is prepared and maintained for optimal performance. Key responsibilities include:
1. **Preparation of the surgical environment**: Ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for use.
2. **Intraoperative support**: Assisting the surgical team during procedures by managing instruments and maintaining the sterile field.
3. **Adaptability**: Responding to dynamic situations in the operating room and adjusting practices as necessary.
Qualifications
- Required: Associate's Degree or equivalent
- Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Experience as a Surgical Technologist (clinical rotations included)
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
