Job Description

As a Med Tech, you will be responsible for administering medications, documenting treatments, and providing personal care and general nursing care to residents as needed or assigned. You will also participate in the development and updating of each resident's service plan.

  • Administer medications and document treatments according to physician orders.
  • Order necessary medication and treatments from pharmacy or notify responsible party when supply refill is needed.
  • Verify accuracy of medicine received and report discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Store medications properly and date vials or bottles at time of initial opening.
  • Participate in resident service plan development and updates.
  • Provide personal care and general nursing care to residents as needed or assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful as a Med Tech, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Hold Registered Medical Aide (RMA) Certification through the Virginia Board of Health Professions.
  • Have previous experience with geriatric nursing, preferably.
  • Hold CPR certification.
  • Understand procedures and techniques involved in basic first aid and resident care.
  • Be in good physical and mental health, neat, clean, well-groomed, and responsible.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
