The role involves the identification and assessment of ingestion system requirements (including hail, rain, ice crystals, and natural icing), leading to the formulation of alternative system design concepts, conducting trade studies, selecting the most effective designs, and performing verification testing to ensure proper integration and execution of the design. Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Leads system-level architecture and design to meet regulatory standards.
  • Defines and executes testing protocols for equipment and/or complete systems, determining the optimal testing strategies and measurement systems.
  • Participates in the research, design, development, and enhancement of technologies focused on mitigating adverse weather impacts and optimizing systems.
  • May involve delivering customer solutions that effectively balance cost and benefits (including architecture, critical design trade-offs, requirement flow-down, and capability flow-up).
  • Develops specialized expertise in their field and serves as a quality resource for best practices.
  • Maintains awareness of the latest technical advancements in their area of expertise.
  • Contributes to strategy and policy formulation, ensuring effective delivery within their scope of responsibility.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of best practices and understands how their area integrates with others; has insight into competitive factors and differentiators in the market.
  • Supports investigations related to in-service events.
  • Acts as a mentor for less experienced colleagues, requiring effective communication skills to influence others on relevant topics.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in analysis and testing associated with aerodynamics and/or adverse weather conditions.

Preferred Attributes

  • Prior experience interacting with regulatory bodies is advantageous.
  • Strong interest in compressible flow modeling and thermodynamics.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Willingness to learn and collaborate within a team environment.
  • Graduate degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering is a plus.

This role necessitates access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will depend on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
